Model 356 Guarded Housing (Sartorius Safety Port 25 mm - Pg13.5)

These guarded housings incorporate the latest Sartorius requirements and are designed to be used with models F-235, F-285, F-635, F-695, F-835, F-895 Metric FermProbes® and models D540 or D545 12 mm OxyProbe® II dissolved oxygen sensors, they can also be used with any 12 mm sensor that has Pg13.5 threads. The housings can be used with both the new 25 mm safety ports and the older 25 mm port designs.

BJC Model 356 Housing 25mmWhen these housings are used with the Sartorius safety port, the port will release internal steam pressure in the vessel before the housing is completely disengaged from the port.

The metric FermProbe pH electrodes thread directly into the 356 housings, eliminating the need for a threaded retainer nut. In order to prevent twisting the cable, the metric FermProbes have a detachable cable.

An unguarded version is also available (see model 346). Using a guarded housing is highly recommended for pH electrodes to provide maximum protection against damage to the sensing bulb. However, highly viscous media is prone to clog the guard.

  2. Determine whether the application will permit the use of a bulb guard on the housing. The bulb guard design is highly recommended for all types of applications except where media is highly viscous. Highly viscous media is prone to clog the guard area of the housing which can cause erroneous measurements.
  3. Choose the correct steam sterilizable FermProbe pH electrode from the models  F-235F-285F-635F-695F-835F-895 Metric FermProbes® and models D540 or D545 12 mm OxyProbe® II dissolved oxygen sensors.

How to Order a Housing

  1. Confirm that the vessel has a Sartorius 25 mm side port.
  2. Determine whether the application will permit the use of a bulb guard on the housing. The bulb guard design is highly recommended for all types of process applications except when media is highly viscous. Highly viscous media is prone to clog the guard area of the housing.
  3. Choose the correct steam sterilizable FermProbe pH electrode.
